Hello! My name is Megan Swanson and I am a birth and postpartum doula. I am a wife and mom to my 6-month-old son, living in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

I became a doula after experiencing the joy and empowerment of birthing my own baby in my home in September of 2023. The moment he was born, my passion for birth and supporting mothers and families was too! I specialize in first-time families, faith-based families, and unmedicated birth, but partner with mothers in all circumstances and walks of life.

What is a Doula?

What is a doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, informational and emotional support to a mother and family before, during, and after childbirth. Doulas offer evidence-based support, encouraging mothers to make informed decisions and use their voices. A doula advocates for a mother’s birth wishes to help them get the very best care.

A doula is a helper.

Doula Care

Starting at $1,275

Postpartum care starting at $30/hour

3 (up to 2-hour) prenatal visits to discuss educational resources, intentions for labor, comfort techniques, and postpartum needs/assistance
Assistance creating a personalized birth plan with evidence-based information
Continued communication during pregnancy via text, phone or email to answer questions and provide resources & referrals
24/7 phone or text support from 37-42 weeks gestation
Continuous in-person support during labor
Immediate post-birth & feeding support
Access to local and virtual resources related to pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and newborn/family care as needed
Resources such as recommended learning material, checklists, and tips when preparing for labor and the postpartum period
1 (2-hour) session of in-home postpartum support
1 nutritious postpartum meal
Personalized plan for postpartum support (minimum of 12 hours of care starting at $30/hour)

includes lactation support, light housekeeping, family/sibling care, newborn care, meal and snack-prepping, & more

1 nutritious postpartum meal
Personalized plan for postpartum support (minimum of 12 hours of care starting at $30/hour)

I typically take birth clients within 60 miles of Cedar Rapids, IA. For postpartum care, I typically take clients within 20 miles of Cedar Rapids. If outside of that radius, an extra milage fee may be charged.

Will provide support for home births and hospital births. Can support virtually at a reduced rate.
